Body & Soul
The main part of this entry deals with the Austrian duo Body & Soul - but there also is a Hamburg band of the same name.
There is also an Ambient relaxation CD tagged as this.
BODY&SOUL (bc presents, uaf/AUT)
Body&soul was formed in 2004 by Robert Stefan and Michael Willer. Both have been involved with music from birth on in many different projects from rock-bands to classic orchestra, from djing to event management. In the year 1998, whilst robert was working to establish a local dnb-scene as a dj and promoter, michael went to the audio-engineering college in vienna. Both knew each other for a long time before but it was drumandbass music that made them team up and eventually start working on music together. Drumandbass arena (www.breakbeat.co.uk) put on a huge rmx contest with the mighty EZ-rollerz. Body&soul havn´t had any proper releases so far so they decided to participate. Cutting a long story short, after several months the 300.000 different visitors of dnb-arena have stated that the b&s rmx was the best out of over 1000 that were sent in from all over the world. The EZ-rollerz themselves were well into the rmx and short after they released the remake of “roadrunner” on their well respected “Intercom Recordings” lable. This has drawn a lot of attention on body&soul and they kept working to evolve their sound as they felt it really lacked in many technical aspects. In the summer of 2004 body&soul did a collaboration with DJ Genr8 from Alliance, an upcoming producer from miami. A track called “the passage” was made and it didn´t take long until people like “bad company”, “dieselboy”, “dylan” amongst others knocked on their door, beeing seriously into the tune. Couple of days later the track was signed to “bad company presents” forth to come on their album later next year.
Totally blown away by the fact that they had a contract with BC, b&s were even more eagerly working to establish their sound, while beeing more and more busy with djing all over europe. Early in 2005 the boys signed 2 more tracks to the mighty “BC-presents” imprint, all coming out in spring 2005. “My dues” was going to be on the album sampler and “blow out” was signed for the “bad taste” album which came out in summer 2005. Their tunes have been played by the likes of badcompany, andy c, cause4concern, cris.su, fresh, pendulum, state of mind, dieselboy, baron to name a few.
Bodyandsoul are currently starting a band project called “17th boulevard”,throwing in all their influences from rock to hiphop over techno to drumandbass, which is set to break many bounderies. They´re also working for many different artists, remixing reggae
